As this is my first blog for the website, I thought it might be an opportune moment to introduce myself properly to you all and with that in mind - I'll start with a big, fat confession! So, here goes... (deep breath in)...
I DON'T REALLY LIKE EXERCISE (gasp!).
Yes that's right, I'm not a gym bunny and I don't particularly like getting hot and sweaty! A few years ago, after a LOT of failed attempts at sticking to fitness regimes that got me nowhere, I decided to give up any activity that I dreaded and to focus instead only on things I actually enjoyed and that made me feel good. So, I began to body swerve Body Pump, broke free from my Circuits loop and ran away from the running (it was never a pretty sight anyway!).
Instead I chose to focus on Pilates (of course), dancing, walking, cycling and maybe an occasional swim. Living just outside Inverness in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland, with stunning scenery and walks on my doorstep certainly helped! I can't begin to tell you the difference all this has made to my life. Actually that is not true, I CAN tell you!
I now feel so much happier as I am fitter and stronger than ever because my exercise regime is sustainable and not faddy, and I don't have that sinking feeling I used to get en-route to the dreaded gym class! I can happily sustain my current fitness plan because I actually enjoy myself whilst improving my body and soothing my mind.
Life is precious and I don't want to waste time on anything that does not please me or serve me well. I absolutely love teaching Pilates (in person and online) because I see the difference it makes to people, how it lessens their aches and pains, improves their flexibility, gives them strength and calms their minds. And, if you haven't tried it yet, I think you will love it too!
